First-fill whisky

"First Fill" means that the cask is used for whisky for the first time after its previous use (e.g., Bourbon or Sherry). This results in a particularly strong influence from the wood and the previous cask filling: more color, more intense vanilla or sherry notes, and often more spice and depth. Ideal if you like bold, aromatically dense whiskies with a distinctly noticeable cask character.
